Calendar

The Los Altos Chapter, NSDAR, typically meets on the third Friday of each month, January through May and September through December, at 11 a.m. Please contact our chapter regent if you would like to attend one of our meetings.  

We frequently invite the public to attend the speaker's program at our meetings.  And, many of our events and classes are public (e.g. Genealogy Lab).  Please email us for more information.

11     25th Anniversary of 9/11:  On the morning of September 11, 2001, 19 terrorists hijacked four commercial airliners with scheduled flights from the east coast to California. The Twin Towers of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon were intended targets, with a fourth aircraft striking an open field at Shanksville, PA, when passengers and crew challenged the terrorists. Never Forget.

14 250th Anniversary of the “Stars and Stripes:”  On June 14, 1777, the Second Continental Congress passed the Flag Resolution, stating that the Flag would be made up of thirteen alternating red and white stripes and thirteen white, five-pointed stars on a blue field. Stars have been added to the flag as new states join the union, the latest addition on August 21, 1959 when Hawaii was admitted to the Union.

13 240th Anniversary of the Northwest Ordinance:  Congress enacted the Ordinance on July 13, 1787 establishing a framework for governing the Northwest Territory and outlining the procedure for admitting new states to the Union.

Feb 6 250th Anniversary of the Treaty of Alliance and Treaty of Amity and Commerce with France:  The American Colonies and France signed the Treaty of Alliance on February 6, 1778, formalizing France’s financial and military support for the revolutionary government in America. The two sides agreed that neither France nor the United States would make peace with England until the independence of the United States was recognized. With this treaty, France recognized the United States as an independent nation and promoted trade between France and the United States.
